Build Up: UFC 88 Palhares vs. Henderson

224 Date (2/24) of 2007 when Dan Henderson dropped Wanderlei Silva at PRIDE 33. It was also his last win. Henderson has lost twice since the stunning TKO, but his opponents were a couple of the most recognized names in MMA: Anderson Silva and Quinton Jackson. Now he’s hooking up with relative unknown Rousimar Palhares and Hendo isn’t real happy about it.

5 Since Henderson’s last win, Palhares has fought and won (5) times. Most came in Brazil’s Fury FC, but his last was at UFC 84, a stunning armbar that in effect sent veteran Ivan Salaverry into retirement. Still though, Palhares is taking a giant leap in facing Dan at UFC 88.

204 Record (20-4) of Dan Hendrson before the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist Palhares had his first professional MMA bout. Henderson’s fist two bouts (and wins) were way back in June of 1997 and happened to come in Brazil. It was a crazy debut for Henderson as the first fight almost resulted in a fan riot.
