MMA Numbers in the News: A Boxer, Tickets, and a Stabbing

7 XMMA (7) will be held in Montreal this Friday and its most high profile participant is War Machine (formerly known as John Koppenhaver). This is the first MMA event since the “Quebec Athletic Commission” threatened to force the UFC to change rules. The parties met behind closed doors and an agreement was made that allowed 97 to go on as scheduled. According to Lotfi Sariahmed at Sherdog.com it appears XMMA will go on without any RĂ©gie des Alcools, des Courses et des Jeux (RAJC) interference as well. Also, the Commission is not commenting on any of the current rules.

8 Number of times (8) WEC featherweight Leonard Garcia was stabbed in a fight outside of a Taco Cabana in Lubbock, Texas some 15 years ago. He won’t have to contend with a knife at WEC 39 when he fights for the title at WEC 39, but he will have to deal with a very tough Mike Brown.

2 Number of months (2) to 3, in which 45-7 boxer Hasim Rahman hopes to line up his first MMA fight. The 36-year-old Rahman wants to test the waters with guys like Kimbo, James Thompson, or Butterbean and this would probably be wise as he currently has no ground experience.
