MMA Numbers in the News: Big Money, Little Money, and No Love

7 It was announced that Featherweight Urijah Faber will get a chance to rectify his loss to Mike Brown on June (7) at WEC 41. An ill-advised spinning elbow cost Faber the belt at WEC 36 last November.

217 The total disclosed payroll of Roy Jones Jr’s. March Badness was ($217,000) excluding Jones’ take. He will receive two thirds of the event’s net profit.

800 During the boxing portion of March Badness Eric Clinton and Richmond Dalphone earned only ($800) each. During the MMA portion, James Freeman and John Mowry earned ($800) total, $500 for Freeman and $300 for Mowry.

98 Amount ($98) MMA fans from the Oklahoma City/Norman area can pay to get a pretty good seat to Bellator Fighting Championships and the much anticipated U.S. debut of middleweight Hector Lombard. The first round of the tournament is being held at the Lloyd Noble Center on April 17.

2 In an article at MMA Payout it states that by 2010 in-game advertising will become a ($2) billion business. With advertising/sponsorships so important in MMA, the UFC’s Undisputed should make a killing with in-game advertising.

70 Former UFC fighter Rich Clementi and his No Love Entertainment has produced over (70) shows in Louisiana. Clementi is certainly doing his part when it comes to increasing MMA’s popularity and the entire article is great.
