Strikeforce Evolution: King Mo, a Great Fight, and Scott Smith's Miracle Finish

I’m taking the easy way out and not doing numbers for Strikeforce, instead I’m just going to serve up my thoughts as the event goes.

Mauro Ranallo and Frank Shamrock seemed so excited at the start of the broadcast that they kind of looked like bobbleheads.

It was impressive seeing so much of Strikeforce’ s talent. I guess “Cyborgette” carries her belt everywhere she goes. I wonder if she’ll wear it if she poses in Playboy. It kind of looked weird seeing Dan Henderson there.

Seemed like Jenn Brown kind of liked Josh Thomson’s threesome comment.

Note to Showtime, you should just show all the walkouts. We like it and it’s good for the fighters as it gives their sponsors exposure. King Mo’s walkout should definitely be shown.

Speaking of King Mo, he looked really relaxed and good in his stoppage of Mike Whitehead. His Rockstar energy drink celebration was annoying and I think he might have a career in NASCAR after watching him spill it all over the place and dump it on his head.

Jacare looked good, Matt looked old.

Two minutes in and it looks like Josh and Gilbert are going to put on an exciting fight. It looks like Josh isn’t favoring his foot at all.

I really like hearing stats during the round.

Looks like Thomson slipped on some of that spilled Rockstar from King Mo in the first minute of round two.

What a great exchange with about a minute left in round two. No elbow strikes on the ground in Strikeforce?

After three rounds I’ve got Gilbert up two rounds to one and Mauro agrees.

Holy Mother of Pearl that was a crazy good fight. I got Gilbert winning and Strikeforce hit the jackpot as Scott Coker can set up a third go.

Man Melendez threw 467 strikes.

Josh wasn’t disappointed in the least about the loss.

I don’t think I like the ramp entrance. It separates the fighters from the fans and kind of takes away the cage’s importance. Walking up the steps into the arena of combat just seems right and it is at that time when the separation of fighter and fans takes place.

Cung’s spinning back kick covered a whole lot of distance.

Scott Smith survived round two, but it looked like Cung was getting a little tired.

And are you kidding me. Once again Scott pulls off the miracle. He was absolutely blasted for almost 15 minutes and then he dropped Cung with a short left and finished it.

Rockstar energy drink you are trying too hard. Seriously, the whole having the fighters drink the drink after the bout is way too contrived and it makes me not want to try the product at all.

Strikeforce ended the year with a tremendous card.
