IMPACT FC: The need for high production!

I have taken a few days to get over the horror, that was Impact FC. If you want to look at my other post regarding this promotion you will see that I was excited for the PPV and I was happy to see a new promotion.

I just want to say to the people in ImpactFC. Its great that you are attempting this. I mean from covering British MMA full time for most of the year. I can tell you that there is a lot of people that are just trying MMA to make a very quick buck. I'll give it to you. I don't see that with you.

I am not even gonna' say that the fights were bad, they left a lot to be desired from a casual fan's point of view. There was a notable lack of knockouts and lets face it that's what the causal fan wants to see. However in my opinion I enjoyed the Denis Kang fight even though it was a split draw. Why? Well because technically it was very good. The Paul Daley fight was decent. It wasn't the sluggers best performance but he got the job done. End of the day that's all that matters. The Ken Shamrock fight was painful, that's only because Shamrock should have retired many, many years ago and I think he knows that now. The rest of the fights were irrelevant.

What I wanted to pick up on, the big stumbling block for me was the level of production. A better way to phrase, "Notting, England" -- He went Nottingham that would be the lack of production. It really did take away from the show. You knew that it was going to go badly when the ring announcer forgot the name of one of the judges. I have to give it to him though he did cover up well.

Another problem that really, really ate away at my will, was the commentating on the night. It was WORSE than a Strikeforce event. It got so bad that instead of tweeting about what was happening, the select few that stayed to tweet about the event were tweeting the one liners that the commentators were coming off with. I don't know the names of the commentators. Nor will I ever want to know them or ever see them at another event. Here is a selection of the best.

"needing no introduction but will be introduced"
"Notting, England" -- He meant Nottingham
My favorite one of them all. "He's got legs like little people"

Finally, the MC. Oh boy. Do you ever get the feeling that if you hear someone's voice again, it would always be one day too soon. Yeah, that's how I feel towards the MC. I think that the IMPACTFC expected the fans to be wild, blood thirsty animals. However it was more like a retirement home filled with 7000 people. Which when you put it like that I guess an MC was needed. But on the other hand I am thinking that It was because of them "COME ON SYDNEY MAKE SOME NOISE" after every single combo that was landed, that the fans were so muted.

This past weekend has made me realise something. You can no longer just put on good fights. I mean look at the IMPACTFC card before the event Ken Shamrock -- Legend. Pedro Rizzo -- Legend. Daley -- slugger, swing for the fences fighter. Denis Kang -- Pride legend. Murilio Rua -- one of the Rua brothers.

That card had so much going for it, but because there was a very low standard of production the card in my eyes completely failed. I don't see how the fighters will want to fight for IMPACTFC again if they watch the tape back.

Good Fights - Low Production = Failure
High Production - Bad fights = Failure
Good Fights + High Production = Success.

If IMPACTFC come back from this, they can learn and they can still have a crack at it. They are not dead in the water just yet. That being said they are not far off
